Il 2 dicembre KST, i “2021 Asia Artist Awards” si sono svolti presso la Sala KBS Arena presentati da Leeteuk dei Super Junior e Jang Wonyoung delle IVE, ex-IZ*ONE.
La cerimonia annuale è iniziato nel lontano 2016 da Star News e Star Continent e mira a riconoscere attori e cantanti in tutta l’Asia. I 9 Daesang (Grand Prize Awards) assegnati quest’anno sono andati a BTS, Lee Jung Jae, Lee Seung Gi, Yoo Ah In, NCT 127, Lim Young Woong, Stray Kids, Seventeen e espa.

Eppure gli Asia Artist Awards 2021 non sono stati esenti da critiche, alcune anche un po’ strane.
Tre le critiche, infatti, vi è anche l’accusa di aver dati davvero troppi premi, moltissimi, a troppe persone e gruppi Kpop. Per la cerimonia di quest’anno, l’organizzazione ha ricevuto un totale di 40 premi rispetto agli Asia Artist Awards 2020 e 2019, con solo 36 categorie.
C’erano 26 gruppi Kpop e e 36 persone individuali che sono stati premiati durante la cerimonia, ci sono stati vincitori doppi per molte delle categorie di premi.
Per i Daesang (Gran Premio), gli Asia Artist Awards 2021 hanno selezionato 9 artisti diversi come i grandi vincitori: 6 artisti musicali (SEVENTEEN, NCT 127, BTS, Stray Kids, aespa e Lim Young Woong) e 3 attori (Lee Jung Jae, Yoo Ah In e Lee Seung Gi.) Generalmente il Gran Premio è singolo.
Altre critiche, più specifiche, hanno travolto le aespa, o meglio i loro stilisti, per il tappeto rosso delle ragazze. Gli stilisti delle Aespa le hanno vestite in modo molto serioso, tutte nere e in abiti poco adatti a un red carpet per i netizen. Gli outfit erano tutti neri, con accenni di texture come il tulle o la pelle. In particolare, il look di Giselle è stato criticato per non aver reso giustizia alla sua splendida figura.
